National Championships 26th-28th September 2008, Necarne Castle, Irvinestown, Co.Fermanagh

Published 09/10/2008

A contingent of Midland and Western members made the journey to Necarne and were rewarded for their efforts not only in the arena but were also able to enjoy some of the finest weather of the year.

Our best team result to date, second place, was due to the efforts of Simone Hession/Beezies Rose, Shauna Finneran/Creganna Clover, Siobhan Cazabon-Sullivan/Aramis and Anna Hudson/Twist of Autumn in their respective Novice and Elementary classes. And our most successful individual combination was Charlotte Walsh and Four Socks with a hat trick of wins which included the Medium Championship and both Medium and Advanced Medium Freestyle Championships. Also trying their hand at freestyle competitions with considerable success, in the Elementary section, were Shauna Finneran, Anna Hudson and Simone Hession riding Gentle Diamond. Perhaps with the increase in popularity of freestyles, it is time to include this type of competition in our winter schedule.

Luke Egan was our only Silver Spurs representative after Eavan Murphy’s Ardfry Shiraz pulld up lame in the warm before her first Novice test. Luke produced two workmanlike tests to place fifth in a strong class.

The following is a synopsis of the results achieved by our region.
